Today is the special day for all Hindus in India and Nepal!!! Because today is “NAG PANCHAMI”.
Today all the people offer prayers to Serpents. They offer milk, honey etc…
All the married women get back to their premarital homes and celebrate this festival along with her parents… a traditional aspect of the celebration involves joyous swinging by young women on swings temporarily hung on tree branches.
Since this festival comes in shravan month all the prayers and poojas are also offered to lord Shiva!!!

“According to other scriptures, a king used his Tantric powers to force Nagas to return to the land rains which they had taken away. The Nagas gave in to the king’s Tantric power, but in recognition of their power to control rains, the king established Naga Panchami festival.”
